K-Beauty Routine for Beginners
The famous 10-step K-Beauty routine is more philosophy than checklist. The idea is to treat skincare as a slow, mindful ritual, layering lightweight products so skin ends up plump and glassy rather than heavy. But you can borrow the best of it with a five-step starter routine.
Start with a gentle cleanser — a low-pH gel or milk cleanser is the K-Beauty default. Follow with a hydrating toner (patting it in with your palms, not swiping with cotton).
Next, add an essence. This is the step that defines K-Beauty. Something like COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence delivers a wave of hydration and helps everything after it work better.
Layer a moisturizer suited to your skin type — a gel for oily, a cream for dry, something in between for combination — then finish your morning with SPF. In Korea, sunscreen isn't a summer product; it's an every-single-day product, and it's the single biggest anti-aging step you can take.
As you get comfortable, you can add a serum for a specific concern, or a sleeping mask a few nights a week. Track everything on your CosmeShelf so you can see what's actually working — and finish each bottle before it expires.
